Leap Day

February 29th is known as Leap Day.  During most years, February only has 28 days.  Once every four years, an extra day is added to February.  We need to add this day because our calendar is six hours shorter than the solar year.  Instead of adding six hours each year, we simply add an extra day every four years.  I guess that is a little easier!

No School!

In celebration of our former Presidents, we will not have school on Monday, February 20th.  Enjoy your time off and take advantage of the Presidents' Day sales!

Parent Conferences

Parent Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, February 16th from 4-7:00.  If a teacher requested a conference, you would have received an invitation with a specific time in the mail.  If not, you're still welcome to stop out to visit with any teacher.

JVS Open House

Today was the JVS Open House.  It's a wonderful opportunity for prospective students to visit the school and ask some additional questions.  It's also the chance for members of our community to visit JVS and see what we have to offer students.

Groundhog Day

February 2nd isn't a huge holiday, but for some Groundhog Day is a big deal.  According to legend, if the groundhog sees his shadow when he comes out of his burrow we will have six more weeks of winter.  If he doesn't see it, we'll have an early spring.  Time will tell, but I am personally holding out hope we are able to use ONE of our snow days!
