I am having a difficult time tonight realizing that this year is already half over! It seems like yesterday that I met my new students and now it's time for more. Monday begins our second semester. While my Civics students remain in my class, all the Computer students will be new. I will have some leftovers from Psychology, but also some new faces in Sociology.
This blog contains information for Mrs. Pluta's classes at the Lorain County JVS. It is hoped that Our Classroom Connection will keep students engaged in class discussion outside the school day.

A Busy Week
Time is running out for this quarter. Also this week, students will be taking their final exams to end the first semester.
On Wednesday and Thursday, sophomores from our associate schools will have the opportunity to tour the JVS to see if this is the right fit for them. Students will not have academic classes those days.
Friday is a teachers' inservice day. We will be working on finishing grades and attending meetings. Students will be sleeping in!
Next week begins the second semester. Some students may have new schedules. If you've finished your time with me--thanks and good luck!
- Psychology: Students will take a test over chapter 18.
- American Civics: Students will give their Last Lecture presentations.
- Computer Applications: Students will share a PowerPoint presentation on their dream house.

Psychology Fair
Students in my psychology classes have been busy researching various topics. The result is today's Psychology Fair. Students will share a culmination of their research with the rest of the school. Hopefully they have enjoyed learning something they're interested in, and have fun showing others what they've discovered.

Martin Luther King, Jr.
Today we have the day off school to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Why? Dr. King was a peaceful civil rights activist that was gunned down by someone who opposed his views.

Back to School!
I hope everyone had a great break. I am going to assume you're all feeling like me--I could have handled a few more days. The good news is we start with a three-day week. We can make it!
Remember that the second quarter is just about over. We have a few assignments that are going to be due in the next two weeks. Check back often for updates.

I want to wish you all a happy new year! As you know, this is the time for resolutions--how we'll improve for the new year. If you'd like to earn FIVE bonus points to start off 2012, tell me what you think about New Year's Resolutions. Are you making any? Do you usually make them and forget them by February 1st? Or, as in the cartoon, are you already perfect the way you are? Post by January 3rd for
some extra credit.
